There are many false prophets out there, as Jesus said there would be, teaching man's doctrine instead of the doctrine in the bible. One of these teachings is referred to as the hypergrace movement. It has many forms, including preachers in country churches just slipping little parts of it in the sermon and respected shows on Christian networks that we trust to provide truth. Even they are not always in it to spread the gospel, or at the very least they are spreading their own version of the gospel. I actually heard one of these preachers say "You need something to be forgiven of come Sunday." What!? They teach that once you give your heart to Jesus it doesn't matter what you do, you are going to heaven. They don't teach you must turn from sin in your life, repent and receive the Holy Ghost which cause you to walk in the Spirit (Acts 2:38). They don't tell you to go and sin no more and live a holy life. Don't get me wrong, no one is going to be perfect but we are to strive to be. We are to strive to grow in Christ daily. We are to do our best to walk as He walked, and He is perfect. We are saved by grace not by works. Praise God! This however doesn't mean we have a free ticket to sin now. Once we are already saved, then we must have works. We are called to forsake the world and be nothing like it. We might lose friends and maybe even some family members because we aren't to hang out with people who remain in sin and darkness. We aren't supposed to continue to celebrate any pagan festivals even if everyone but you does. We aren't to listen to music or watch movies and shows that tempt us to sin. We shouldn't be attending parties, or going to clubs that aren't acceptable. Now this doesn't mean you can't attend a baby shower or a wedding, but if unchristian behavior begins you leave. We must follow the things the bible teaches us at all costs, no matter what the rest of the world thinks of us. Will we be mocked for it? Probably, and Jesus even warned us of it. This is called sharing in the reproach of Christ and should be an honor.
We are called to come out of the world and be separate from her even though we still live here. We should live in such a way that everyone knows we follow Jesus. It doesn't matter if the whole world accepts homosexuality, abortion, sex outside of marriage, not speaking of God at school or in public, or any other thing that violates God's Word, we are to stand up against it publicly. Everyone in our lives should know where we stand on those issues. They should know not to invite you to the keg party, or ask you if you want to go to the strip club. The bible has a name for Christians that continue in improper behavior and don't fulfill their call as a follower of Christ. It says they are lukewarm and will be vomited out of the body of Christ and lose their salvation. This is scripture. Scripture doesn't lie. Jesus wants us either on fire for the Lord and a 'Jesus freak' or ice cold, admitting we serve the enemy. Those that claim to serve God with their mouths but don't live the way they are supposed to just turn people away from the Lord. Read the following verses.
He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels. Revelation 3:5
He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels. So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth. Revelation 3:15-16
If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you. Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also. John 15:19-20
You adulteresses! Do you not know that friendship with the world is hostility toward God? Therefore, whoever chooses to be a friend of the world renders himself an enemy of God. James 4:4
They are of the world. That is why they speak from the world's perspective, and the world listens to them. 1 John 4:5
Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, 2 Corinthians 6:17
Depart, depart, go out from there, Touch nothing unclean; Go out of the midst of her, purify yourselves, You who carry the vessels of the LORD. Isaiah 52:11
I did not sit in the circle of merrymakers, Nor did I exult. Because of Your hand upon me I sat alone, For You filled me with indignation. Jeremiah 15:17
Then I heard another voice from heaven say: "Come out of her, my people, so that you will not share in her sins or contract any of her plagues. Revelation 18:4
Forsake the foolish, and live; and go in the way of understanding. Proverbs 9:6
I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. Romans 12:1-2
Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ. Colossians 2:8
If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth: 1 John 1:7
Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever. 1 John 2:15-17
But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints; Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks. For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience. Be not ye therefore partakers with them. For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light: (For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;) Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord. And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them. Ephesians 5:3-11
But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light; 1 Peter 2:9
All of these verses lay out an expectation and command, not request, to forsake worldly things and traditions. Yet many Christians today make excuses of why it is okay for them to continue living in sin. They say "I will repent later." That's not how it works. They claim "I am under grace not law." Yes but that's not what that means. They say "Judge Not,..." Did you read the rest of that or stop at judge not? Anyone defending sin isn't living under biblical grace as the bible defines it. They are redefining and twisting the bible to fit their lives , when we are supposed to change our lives to fit the bible once we have already been saved. We are to walk in the Spirit (Galatians 5) and bear fruit. Those that do not bear fruit will be cut off the tree we are grafted in (Romans 11) and thrown into the fire, and there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth in the lake of fire (Matthew 7:19-21). So if this applies to you right now, don't be offended. Repent and start walking the narrow path you are called to walk. It's not to late unless you don't admit to God you need to change your walk. It is a journey and everything doesn't happen all at once. That doesn't mean we shouldn't strive everyday to be as close to perfect as possible. Each day you will become better as long as you let Jesus help you grow. If you think you're where you need to be and don't need any work, I promise you have a problem. Seek the Lord while He may be found. Time is almost up. Forsake the world; take up your cross (which won't be easy) and follow Him. God bless you and may Jesus keep you.
