Are demons, or devils as they are called in the King James Version, the same as fallen angels? What are Nephilim? Is there more members of Satan's army than we know about from what we learn at church?
First lets look at what a fallen angel is. A fallen angel is an angel that was previously part of the hosts of the Lord but followed Satan in rebellion against God. They have sinned or fallen from grace. On judgment day they have a spot reserved in the lake of fire with Satan who is technically also a fallen angel as he was the angel of light before he fell. These are scriptures that state the existence of fallen angels. Notice these are angels not devils/demons.
And the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation, he hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day. Jude 1:6
And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels, And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven. And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him. Revelation 12:7-9
Genesis tells us that some of these fallen angels actually chose wives and had children with them, which is more evidence that fallen angels and demons are not the same thing. So what were these children that the fallen angels put off. According to Genesis they were giants, or Nephilim. A Nephilim is the hybrid offspring of a human woman and a fallen angel.
And it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born unto them, That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose. And the Lord said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years. There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown. Genesis 6:1-4
This is why God brought the flood to destroy the rampant sin and corrupted DNA caused by the evil roaming the earth from the fallen angels and their offspring. These fallen and their offspring taught men many wicked things that God was extremely unhappy about. The Bible references another book for more information on several topics. This topic is further elaborated on in the book of Enoch. Enoch was Noah's great grandfather and did not die in the flesh but was translated. And Enoch walked with God after he begat Methuselah three hundred years, and begat sons and daughters: And all the days of Enoch were three hundred sixty and five years: And Enoch walked with God: and he [was] not; for God took him. Genesis 5:22-24
And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying, Behold, the Lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints, To execute judgment upon all, and to convince all that are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have ungodly committed, and of all their hard speeches which ungodly sinners have spoken against him. Jude 1:14-15
The book of Enoch is quoted in Jude 1:14-15. It was actually considered canon until around the 4th century but is still considered so by some churches. It was included in the 1611 King James Version Bible in the original translation into English. It may not be included in Holy Scripture today but most definitely has been before and does not contradict any scripture. It adds elaboration to Genesis 6 and is most definitely considered worthy scripture of some sort to those that God used to write the canon we have today. 1 Enoch 1-22 chapters can be referenced for information on fallen angels and Nephilim as well.
That leaves us still not understanding what demons are. Demons are disembodied spirits that seek to inhabit a body unlike fallen angels that have their own body. These spirits came from the Nephilim killed in the flood. These demons also bred and produced more demons. This information also comes from the book of Enoch. Here is an excerpt.
The Book of Enoch chapter 15: 8-12
And now the giants, who have been begotten from body and flesh, will be called evil spirits on earth, and their dwelling-places will be upon the earth. 9. Evil spirits proceed from their bodies; because they are created from above, their beginning and first basis being from the holy watchers, they will be evil spirits upon the earth, and will be called evil spirits. 10. But the spirits of heaven have their dwelling-places in heaven, and the spirits of the earth, who were born on the earth, have their dwelling-places on earth. 11. And the spirits of the giants, who cast themselves upon the clouds, will be destroyed and fall, and will battle and cause destruction on the earth, and do evil; they will take no kind of food, nor will they become thirsty, and they will be invisible. 12. And these spirits will not (?) rise up against the children of men and against the women, because they have proceeded from them, in the days of murder and destruction.
There are many that dispute this but for those that have been or are in deliverance ministry it is blatantly obvious and confirmed by the Holy Spirit. Most will think knowing these differences aren't important, but since Mark 16:17-18 commands us to cast out devils and Luke 10:19 tells us what we have authority over we must understand who the enemy is before we can go to battle with them. This also leads us to the question are there other forms the enemy comes in?
The answer to that question is yes. We know this by the scripture in Ephesian 6:12 which lists types of the enemy. Why would it list them if they weren't different?
For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Ephesian 6:12
Just from the work the Lord has led us to in deliverance, we have come across the following information as we have battled each one. The demons are different types based on their assignment as the Bible names some of them like unclean spirits, lying spirits, infirmity, spirit of harlotry(prostitution) and so on. The fallen angels each have different assignments in the enemy's kingdom. There are basic fallen angels, gatekeepers, key keepers, princes or principalities, and others. Principalities are larger fallen angels that are over areas and regions such as cities, counties/parishes, states/provinces, countries or continents etc. We have encountered beings that called themselves dark lords, dark ones, and others that we really won't get into at this time but they fall under powers, rulers of the darkness of this world, and spiritual wickedness in high places. There is always much to learn in each specific area of the Lord's work. This is some more detailed information that we have learned in our work in deliverance ministry. We hope you have learned some and found it interesting. May God bless you and Jesus keep you.
