Fashion seems to be a big deal among most people at least to some degree. Expressing ones style by the outfits they wear has become more of a requirement than a choice. This is how we notice someone. For some people, who judge by appearance alone, it might even be the way they determine if the person is worth talking to. The problem is, in this determination to grab attention with our attire, the style has become largely inappropriate in God's eyes. Skirts are too short and tops too low. Jeans are too tight and shorts don't cover much more than a bathing suit. Speaking of bathing suits, they don't have enough material to make a dishrag. Disciples of Christ, men and women alike, should never stoop to this type of dress. Modest clothing and appearance is a must among the body of Christ.
If you profess to be a Christian man, then you shouldn't have sagging pants that show your undergarments, speedos, little or no shirt on, or anything else that draws attention to parts that are meant to only be seen by your wife. Someone just said I don't have a wife. Really? You will one day and if you don't then no one needs to see it. God created you in His image and you should reflect that.So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. Genesis 1:27
Maybe you as a Christian women, do your best every day. As a modern woman of Christ, skirts, dresses and shorts should remain at a length that doesn't draw attention. They shouldn't be skintight like it is painted on either. Your blouses should always completely cover "the girls". No amount of cleavage is acceptable. Again someone here is going to have a remark like" I can wear what I want." or "Men shouldn't be looking." You can wear what you want, but not and profess Jesus at the same time and it still be true. Men shouldn't be looking, but they wouldn't want to either if you didn't have the goods on display. Those goods are for your husband and only him.
In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array; But (which becometh women professing godliness) with good works. 1 Timothy 2:9-10
Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel; But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price. For after this manner in the old time the holy women also, who trusted in God, adorned themselves, being in subjection unto their own husbands: 1 Peter 3:3-5
And, behold, there met him a woman with the attire of an harlot, and subtil of heart. Proverbs 7:10
It is both men's and women's responsibility not to invoke the spirit of lust and cause temptation that leads to sin. If a man looks at a woman with lust, or the other way around, they are already guilty of adultery (fornication if you aren't married). None of us should be running around half dressed. The fact that it is 2016 makes no difference. God's Word is the same today, yesterday, and tomorrow.
But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart. Matthew 5:28
It is good neither to eat flesh, nor to drink wine, nor any thing whereby thy brother stumbleth, or is offended, or is made weak. Romans 14:21
Know ye not that your bodies are the members of Christ? shall I then take the members of Christ, and make them the members of an harlot? God forbid. What? know ye not that he which is joined to an harlot is one body? for two, saith he, shall be one flesh. But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit. Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body. What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's. 1 Corinthians 6:15-20
I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. Romans 12:1-2
So many Christians wonder how anyone could be an atheist or not believe on Christ. Why would they when God's children are clearly not following their own teachings of Christ. If you are a Christian man or woman, then you should always dress in modest apparel. No bikini, mini skirt, cleavage showing shirt or leggings without a shirt long enough to cover parts ladies. Keep your body covered. Men put your shirt on, pull your pants up, and cover your body. When you open doors to the spirit of lust you also open the door for demonic attack in your life. Stay modest and if you wouldn't wear it in front of the preacher don't wear it at all ever. May God bless you and Jesus keep you.
