Many may not realize the significance of what has just happened in the UN Security Council this week. The one world government, know as the United Nations, has passed a resolution that will end Israel's ability to build homes in any area thought by the Palestinian people to be "occupied" by Israel. This includes East Jerusalem and Bethlehem. This is an unthinkable betrayal to Israel by the United States. Israel even says that the U.S. not only abstained from the vote, refusing to exercise their veto on Israel's behalf, but also played a major role in introducing the resolution and they have proof. It is extremely prophetic and paves the way for even more major prophecy to be fulfilled.
We see in Zechariah that all nations will be against Israel and Jerusalem. The United Nations would definitely qualify as all nations. Is this the sign of a coming war? Zechariah also states that this is in the last days approaching the day of the Lord. The tribes of Judah, Benjamin and parts of Levi are now referred to as the Jewish people. Zechariah 12 states that siege will come against Judah and Jerusalem. This resolution is a political siege on East Jerusalem and even major news sources are focusing on how it affects Jerusalem more than any other area.
The burden of the word of the Lord for Israel, saith the Lord, which stretcheth forth the heavens, and layeth the foundation of the earth, and formeth the spirit of man within him. Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of trembling unto all the people round about, when they shall be in the siege both against Judah and against Jerusalem. And in that day will I make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all people: all that burden themselves with it shall be cut in pieces, though all the people of the earth be gathered together against it. Zechariah 12:1-3
Behold, the day of the Lord cometh, and thy spoil shall be divided in the midst of thee. For I will gather all nations against Jerusalem to battle; and the city shall be taken, and the houses rifled, and the women ravished; and half of the city shall go forth into captivity, and the residue of the people shall not be cut off from the city. Then shall the Lord go forth, and fight against those nations, as when he fought in the day of battle. And his feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east, and the mount of Olives shall cleave in the midst thereof toward the east and toward the west, and there shall be a very great valley; and half of the mountain shall remove toward the north, and half of it toward the south. Zechariah 14:1-4
What does this mean for Jews in Israel? What could this be leading to in the very near future? What other prophecy is this action possibly setting up to fulfill? Let's look at Joel 3 to see what it says. After the Crusades the nations of Islam controlled all of Israel and Jerusalem and these events fulfilled verses 1-6. In 1948 the nation of Israel was reborn and Aaliyah home to Israel continues to this day fulfilling verse 7. That leaves from verse 8 on in this chapter still to be fulfilled leading up to the coming day of the Lord. Due to the 6 Day War the Palestinians are currently under the rule of Israel the country which is controlled by biblical Judah as the other tribes are still currently lost. Their sons and daughters do belong to Israel but have not been removed from the land yet. The rest of Joel speaks of the coming battle that Zechariah spoke of as well. This is the battle of Ezekiel 38-39 known as the first battle of Gog and Magog. This is not the battle of Armageddon which takes place on the plains of Megiddo at the Second Coming of Christ which destroys the antichrist. This battle will take place shortly before or during the first part of the seven-year tribulation. This battle is result of all nations turning their hearts against and betraying Israel. This resolution is proof that the hearts have all turned against Israel other than those individual people that belong to the Lord. All nations are currently against Israel. The one world government, known as the United Nations, spoken of in Revelation has risen and is coming against the people of Israel.
For, behold, in those days, and in that time, when I shall bring again the captivity of Judah and Jerusalem, I will also gather all nations, and will bring them down into the valley of Jehoshaphat, and will plead with them there for my people and for my heritage Israel, whom they have scattered among the nations, and parted my land. And they have cast lots for my people; and have given a boy for an harlot, and sold a girl for wine, that they might drink. Yea, and what have ye to do with me, O Tyre, and Zidon, and all the coasts of Palestine? will ye render me a recompence? and if ye recompense me, swiftly and speedily will I return your recompence upon your own head; Because ye have taken my silver and my gold, and have carried into your temples my goodly pleasant things: The children also of Judah and the children of Jerusalem have ye sold unto the Grecians, that ye might remove them far from their border. Behold, I will raise them out of the place whither ye have sold them, and will return your recompence upon your own head: And I will sell your sons and your daughters into the hand of the children of Judah, and they shall sell them to the Sabeans, to a people far off: for the Lord hath spoken it. Proclaim ye this among the Gentiles; Prepare war, wake up the mighty men, let all the men of war draw near; let them come up: Beat your plowshares into swords and your pruninghooks into spears: let the weak say, I am strong. Assemble yourselves, and come, all ye heathen, and gather yourselves together round about: thither cause thy mighty ones to come down, O Lord. Let the heathen be wakened, and come up to the valley of Jehoshaphat: for there will I sit to judge all the heathen round about. Put ye in the sickle, for the harvest is ripe: come, get you down; for the press is full, the fats overflow; for their wickedness is great. Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision: for the day of the Lord is near in the valley of decision. The sun and the moon shall be darkened, and the stars shall withdraw their shining. The Lord also shall roar out of Zion, and utter his voice from Jerusalem; and the heavens and the earth shall shake: but the Lord will be the hope of his people, and the strength of the children of Israel. So shall ye know that I am the Lord your God dwelling in Zion, my holy mountain: then shall Jerusalem be holy, and there shall no strangers pass through her any more. Joel 3:1-17
The next prophecy this event sets the world up to fulfill is Revelation 11:1-2 which states that Jerusalem will be divided and the temple will stand. The outer court of this will belong to the Gentiles. This means the two-state agreement and division of Jerusalem which is currently already divided in theory but not on paper as all of the city is under Israeli possession. This will be an agreement that fulfills much scripture written about the last days. It will bring what will be thought of as "peace and safety" as spoken of in 1 Thessalonians 5:1-3, and will most likely also be the covenant with many in Daniel 9:27. This means a coming two-state agreement would be the start of the seven-year tribulation and the reveal the antichrist as the one whom signs the treaty. That in turn lines us up with 2 Thessalonians 2.
And there was given me a reed like unto a rod: and the angel stood, saying, Rise, and measure the temple of God, and the altar, and them that worship therein. But the court which is without the temple leave out, and measure it not; for it is given unto the Gentiles: and the holy city shall they tread under foot forty and two months. Revelation 11:1-2
But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you. For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night. For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape. 2 Thessalonians 5:1-3
Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him, That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand. Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God. 2 Thessalonians 2:1-4
