We often get bogged down in everyday affairs. We run from here to there in the hustle and bustle of life so busy that we tend to forget to live and are just surviving. This was a hard lesson for me to learn. We think nothing of it and go to sleep at night exhausted, wondering how to get it all done, and how to fix every problem. We stress about bills, debt, schedules, work, kids, education, family, and the list goes on. For many it is second nature to solve problems themselves.
Scripture tells us we aren't supposed to do that. First and foremost we are to take everything to the Lord in prayer, then follow His instructions as to His will for our lives. We are commanded by the Word to always pray.
Pray without ceasing. 1Thessalonians 5:17
Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. Philippians 4:6
Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer; Romans 12:12
There are so many times even after we have prayed about a situation that we forget to let go and let God. Life isn't in our control and it never will be. As Christians we must not only seek the Lord in prayer, but we must also trust Him with the answer. Even if the answer doesn't line up with our plans. In order to do that we must step back. We can't continue to labor in our own ways. We must allow Him to work in our lives. Some things are God's job. Let Him do them. Learn to stop and let the Master work or as it says in Psalm 46:
Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth. Psalm 46:10
Have you learned to just be still and let God be God? He is in control, but we must trust Him. When we worry, stress, or allow fear to enter then we are not fully trusting the Lord. Be still and know that He is God and is fully capable to handle anything that comes your way.
