The Principle of Believing

Introduction:

The law of believing is the most important truth and principle in a persons life. Nothing determines our lives upon the earth, our success and failures, nearly as powerfully as the law of believing. It is the basic principle to gain control over your life, to be a successful person, to be a successful Christian, and to live a life of victorious freedom. The law of believing is how we appropriate eternal life and is one of the main factors in acquiring eternal rewards. It must be understood in order for a Christian to know God, to live for God, to enjoy God, and to receive his blessings.

We will not attempt to cover in entirety everything about the law of believing in this biblical study, but we will cover it thoroughly enough to give you a sure biblical footing, an accurate foundation to build upon, to grow in, and especially to achieve numerous successes in your power-filled walk with God.

Can You Believe God's Word?

The principle of believing or the law of believing is a truth from God's word; it is the Truth of God's Word. Actually to call it a law is an understatement; for scientific laws such as gravity can be broken or defied, but a truth from God's word cannot ever be broken or defied. Certainly someone can operate an opposing principle to defy gravity. A simple example is a missile or a rocket soaring upward rather than being tugged to the ground by the earth's gravitational pull. A truth from God's word can never, ever be defied or broken.

Matthew 5:18

For verily I say unto you, till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.

The principle, the truth of believing, has never been broken or altered since the dawn of time and never will be.

The law of believing is literally your rudder in life. A ship's rudder guides it and, in time, will navigate its ship to its desired location. As you learn to simply operate the principle of believing, it will be to your life as a ship's rudder and take you to your desired destinations. A ship in the sea has many factors affecting it (waves, winds, and currents), and the rudder is constantly being moved about to direct the ship to it's desired location. There are many factors pulling, pushing and tugging at you, but it is the truth of believing from God's Word that will determine where you end up and whether you succeed or fail in every endeavor.

In simple essence, what you expect to happen will happen. What you truly expect will come to pass in your life. Certainly, there are limitations and other influences which we will examine later. Another simple way to state it is what a person confesses in his heart is going to happen in his life and what a person thinks of himself determines who he is. In other words, if you really believe something in your heart, it will come to pass, and what you really believe in your heart about yourself is what you are in life. You are who you believe you are.

Proverbs 23:7a

For as he thinks in his heart, so is he....

You will go in life exactly where you believe to go. If you learn from God's Word how to believe rightly, you can change to be the person that you desire to be and you can change your life to believe anything that you want to achieve.

Mark 9:23

Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth.

This verse shows the limitlessness of what you can do when you learn to believe God's Word.

Recently a Mega Church Pastor renounced his faith in Christianity and walked away from his faith. What happened? Why would he do this? Does Christianity revolve around you? Or Jesus and what he did for you? Does Christianity deliver what you want it to deliver? No. Therefore according to him, it can't be true. What does God's Word say about that?

Isaiah 55:8-9

For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts

We cannot expect a trouble free life just because we are Christians. As a matter of fact we should expect to have trouble and hardship. But you can get through it even peacefully if you trust and cling to Jesus. He does not remove it, but he is there helping your through it.

John 16:33

(Jesus said)These things I have spoken unto you, that IN ME you will HAVE PEACE. In the world you shall have tribulation; but be of good cheer; for I have overcome the world.

Please note there is much controversy even among Christians regarding the truth of God's Holy Word. We must always take it to the Holy Spirit. The emphasis must always be to rightly divide God's Word of truth and believe what God says about you and not what people say. ---- Molly Ryan
