Can A Christian Have Demons?

It is a very debated question among theologians. Can a Christian have demons or be demonized(some use the word possessed but I don't find that word accurate)? There are those that say yes they absolutely can and those that say absolutely not. Those that say a Christian can't be demonized cite that a demon cannot reside where the Holy Spirit lives. That statement is correct. What we need to look at is where the Holy Spirit does actually reside. We know He lives in us but where? Scripture tells us there are 3 parts to us just like there are 3 parts to God, as we are made in His image. And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.   1 Thessalonians 5:23 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.     Hebrews 4:12 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost [which is] in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?     1 Corinthians 6:19 The first 2 verses show that we have a body, soul, and spirit. Let's look at the 3rd verse we listed here. First we look at how the temple was set up by God. There was the outer room where everyone worshipped. Then we find the inner room where only priests were allowed. After that the innermost room which is called the Holy of Holies because that's where God stayed. Before Christ only the high priest was allowed in there once a year to remit the sins of the people. At Christ's death the veil was torn and everyone is allowed in God's presence. this is the basic design of the temple. Our body as the temple is laid out the same way. The body is the outer court where we begin to worship and live daily. Our soul (or mind) is renewed by the Word of God which is Jesus. The Holy of Holies where the Holy Spirit resides in us is our spirit. this lines up with God's image in how we are created. Our spirit cannot be demonized. No demons can enter our spirits. our spirits cannot be demonized or oppressed in any way. However, that leaves our bodies and souls (minds) where the Holy Spirit doesn't reside. This is why Galatians tells us to walk in the Spirit not in the flesh. Our flesh will always be carnal and we must die to it daily. (Romans 8:31, Galatians 5:16-17  , 1 Corinthians 15:31) Our soul or mind must be renewed by the Word. (Romans 12:2, Ephesians 4:23) Our bodies which are flesh and weak can still have demons come into them Christian or not. Also if demons came in before one was a Christian they could very well still be there hoping to draw one back into sin. That's why we are commanded several times in the gospels to cast out demons. The woman that grabbed the hem of Jesus' robe was a believer but Jesus still had to cast out the spirit. The woman that told fortunes believed Jesus was Christ and Paul was there to preach about him. She followed him around telling everyone, but Paul still had to cast out the spirit of divination. Believers can have demons. They just cannot reside in the spirit of a believer. If you are a believer and you have trouble staying out of one area of sin in particular it might be a demon that keeps drawing you back. In conclusion yes a believer or Christian can have demons. We all had a life of sin before we gave our hearts to Christ. There is nothing to be ashamed of. Just like when kids come home from school with lice. The embarrassment shouldn't be because they are there. The embarrassment only comes when you refuse to get rid of them or acknowledge them. None of us need those kind of pets: lice or demonic. Choose to get rid of them. The Lord is exposing these strongholds now across the globe. The Acts 2 church is here and moving. Most diseases are even demonic. Healing and deliverance go hand in hand. That's scripture. Many were healed by Jesus because he cast the spirit causing the disease out. the fact that a Christian can have cerebral palsy (the palsy; Matthew 4, 8, 9, Mark 2, Luke 5 and Acts 9), blood diseases (Luke 8, and Mark 5), and many other illness listed in the bible is proof that a believer can have demons. There were plenty of these cases after the death and resurrection of Christ as well. This was after He paid for us to be healed and after they accepted Him as their Savior but still needed healing and the apostles laid hands and cast out the demon to do so. We can't argue with scripture. Don't let the false doctrines of man and demons keep you from being delivered and the chains broken. Let them be cast out by someone that is able to do so because they are Spirit filled and know their authority Christ gave us in Luke 10:19. Seek a deliverance minister the shame only lies in keeping them. God bless you and may Jesus keep you.
